Lady Gaga really wants people to know she has no idea what Fortnite is. Currently one of the most popular games in the world, Epic Games’ battle royale recently made headlines when it blew up the game’s entire map and kept players staring at a black hole with nothing but a secret game of Space Invaders to keep them company until, earlier this week, Fortnite launched Chapter 2, finally allowing players access to a brand new map and the ability to fish and swim.

As one of the most accomplished singer/songwriters alive today and an award-winning actress, Lady Gaga has been busy as well. Most recently rumored to be Rocket Raccoon’s love interest in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3 film, Gaga has also been enjoying world-wide acclaim thanks to her performance in the musical A Star Is Born.

Perhaps due to the game’s recent explosion and rebirth, Fortnite has been in the news so much lately that even Lady Gaga is asking questions about it on Twitter. Asking her followers the simple question “What’s fortnight” has led to a plethora of responses from all different corners of entertainment, with even the game’s current most famous streamer, Ninja, saying “Call me on the Telephone. I’ll give you a Million Reasons to play.” Gaga has ignored most of the thousands of answers she has received so far, but did choose to reply to Ninja, who infamously stated in the past he would never stream games with women.

Lady Gaga, who once called herself a secret gamer girl, has previously tweeted about beating Chapter IV of Bayonetta and being nervous about how difficult Chapter V would be. The entertainer was also rumored to be a character in Cyberpunk 2077 after being spotted leaving the CD Projekt Red offices earlier this year, although those rumors have since been proven false.

In today’s gaming world which sees Fortnite constantly crossing over with different pop culture franchises and even providing unique experiences like in-game concerts from Marshmello, it’s hard to tell whether Lady Gaga’s tweets about Epic Games’ famous battle royale are made out of genuine bewilderment and intrigue or if it is the beginning of some sort of guerrilla marketing campaign which will end with some of Gaga’s iconic dances and costumes becoming purchasable content within the game. While Lady Gaga’s most dedicated fans and Fortnite’s may not think they have much in common yet, perhaps this is just the beginning of a beautiful gaming friendship.
